Clare Duffy, Networks Development and Electrification Manager, ESB Networks
As part of the senior leadership team in ESB Networks, the Irish electricity grid owner, Clare Duffy is fully engaged in Ireland’s Climate Action Plan, leading on activities key to Ireland’s transition to a lower carbon energy system. She is accountable for enabling the electrification of heat and transport initiatives, including appropriate investment in the Low Voltage network to cater for increased uptake of electric cars, domestic heat pumps and domestic microgeneration. Clare is accountable for innovation across ESB Networks with 30+ projects across the Future Customer, Climate Action and Network Resilience innovation pillars. She also leads a multi-disciplinary nationwide team with responsibilities for the development of the electricity distribution network to meet future customer requirements. This includes investments and customer connections essential for the economic and social development of communities.
Clare is a chartered engineer with 25 years’ experience in the Irish and international energy sectors working across Europe, Africa, the Caucasus, Middle East, USA and Southeast Asia. She is a member of the Executive Board of Engineers Ireland.
In the UK, Clare is a Non-Executive Director of Elexon, the organisation responsible for c£1.7bn of electricity balancing market transactions per annum as administrator of the GB Wholesale Market Balancing and Settlement Code. See Clare Duffy | LinkedIn
