Can you get a Government grant to upgrade your heating system?

Speaker: Tom McDonald
Project Officer at Low Carbon Workspaces
BSc in Ecology and Environmental Management
MSc in Climate Change and Sustainability
Reducing energy consumption is key to combatting climate change, but upgrading or replacing equipment can be expensive. Did you know that government grants are available for businesses and individuals to help keep costs down? Examples include installing LED lighting or solar energy systems, upgrading your heating, or adding charge points for electric vehicles.
Tom explained that a Government scheme has been withdrawn and that local authorities are now required to pitch for funds for schemes appropriate for their area. An article about a Buckinghamshire scheme shows how it works.
After working at a National Nature Reserve, Tom transferred his attention to helping businesses reduce their carbon emissions. A firm believer that businesses have a key role in the fight against climate change, Tom now works as a Project Officer at Low Carbon Workspaces grant scheme, covering the Berkshire area.
