Natural succession agroforestry systems
November 2023

The Speaker: Angela Baptista
Angela’s academic background is as a forest engineer. She worked for most of her life in conventionally cultivated vineyards, orchards and vegetable gardens, but she felt there was something missing.
She now realises that the missing link was nature. She believes that we need to look at nature from nature’s point of view, and recognise that life exists and thrives the way nature works. Angela now follows The Regenerative path, otherwise known as the Agroforestry System of Natural Succession.
The Talk
Angela has set up an agroforestry project in Portugal which she runs along regenerative lines with the help of volunteers. Her talk is about her current work focusing on training and consulting in regenerative systems. It shows how we can create spaces by cultivating fully and increasing plant productivity by respecting the laws of nature.
Angela’s enthusiasm for agroforestry is clear, and her astonishment at how much more productive a piece of land can be if we allow nature to guide us. She answered questions about harvesting crops and selecting the right plants for the location.
