The Speaker: Joanna O’Loan, Knowledge Manager at Energy Saving Trust

Joanna’s background is in chemical engineering. She has a lifelong curiosity about how things work, and loves making complex topics accessible to non specialists. Since 2019, she has been at Energy Saving Trust, helping people to adopt energy efficiency and zero-carbon technologies by way of research, analysis, writing, training, and advice. She has appeared on BBC programmes such as sliced Bread; Morning Live and The big Green Money Programme.

The Talk

Joanna will take part in an initial discussion covering topics such as:

  • What are the fossil fuel-free options for home heating?
  • Are heat pumps effective in cold weather and how much disruption does it cause to install one?
  • Will a heat pump reduce energy bills, or is it just a matter of reducing dependence on fossil fuels?
