We use the Law to Protect our Client: Earth

September 2024

The Speaker: Sebastien De Menthon

While studying Environmental Law at the London School of Economics, Sebastien discovered the NGO ClientEarth in the legal textbook. It was the first time he had heard of an organisation that specialises in taking legal action to hold governments and big corporations to account for harm caused to the planet. Now, two years into his career in ClientEarth’s Development team, he is more invested than ever in the potential for legal change to push society towards positive tipping points.

This decade is a crucial opportunity for positive, coordinated legal action on a global scale. Join us to hear what we can do now to protect climate, nature, health and justice around the world.

Sebastien told us stories of landmark legal actions, David v. Goliath cases and decade-long legal advocacy projects that are re-creating our economic, food and transport systems. With collaboration and creativity, the law can help get the right rules in place for a healthy planet where people and nature thrive together.

You can take action now.

Sebastien emphasised the importance of speaking up, using our voice to support the work of ClientEarth through personal contact, social media, writing to your MP and signing petitions.
